It seems like almost every student at Jamesville-DeWitt High School has a smartphone. Whether it’s a Blackberry, Droid, or iPhone, many students at J-DHS are taking advantage of having a phone with very fun apps. Apps allow you to go on social networking sites, such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Tumblr. Other apps include games such as Angry Birds, Tetris, and Logos Quiz.

Junior Anthony Epifani’s favorite app is Twitter. “I love my tweets,” says Epifani. “Twitter is just so much better than Facebook because no one comments!” Epifani says he checks Twitter “a lot, probably 50 times a day.” Although Epifani enjoys using Twitter, sophomore Jason Alweis doesn’t. “I don’t really like Twitter. I deleted mine - Twitter is so annoying,” says Alweis.

Algebra I teacher Dawn Janicki enjoys the Facebook app. “It’s fun to brag about my kids,” she says. “I just love posting pictures of them, they’re so cute!” says Mrs. Janicki.
“I probably go on about five times a day,” Mrs. Janicki says.

“My favorite app is probably Tumblr,” says junior Lindsey Wood. Tumblr is a social networking site that allows its users to post multimedia pictures, videos, music, and more. Users can follow other blogs or make their own blog private. “The app was awesome,” says Wood. “I like how you can go on Tumblr when you’re in the car or when you’re bored!” says Wood. Junior Paige May agrees with Wood. “Tumblr is so fun,” says May. “I just love looking at all of the pictures and everything.”

Social networking apps aren’t the only applications used on a smart phone. Games, including Angry Birds, Tetris, and Guitar Web are a few of the apps that the students of J-DHS enjoy using. “Angry Birds, all the way!” says junior Owen Williams. Williams enjoys playing Angry Birds because “there are so many levels, and you can play for hours on end.” Junior Danny Della Posta enjoys Tetris. “Tetris is really fun, and it’s a good way to pass time!” he says. Josh Berube likes the Guitar Web application. “You can look up a ton of songs to play,” says Berube. “The app is really great because it helps me become better at playing!”

The Logos Quiz app is also a very popular app among the students of J-DHS, including senior Deke Burns. “Logos Quiz is very fun, I’m on level 7,” says Burns. “That app is awesome! But, some of the logos are pretty hard,” says sophomore Arielle Nagar.

Many of the students from J-DHS are also enjoying the app Instagram. “There are always a lot of funny pictures on Instagram,” says senior Henry Wilson. “I take so many pictures, and I love posting them and sharing them with my followers,” says junior Courtney Piscitell.“The thing I really like about Instagram is that you can look at the pictures other people take,” says sophomore Erin Lumia. “I love scrolling through and seeing all the pictures people have taken!”
