Spring break has come and gone, but the memories remain for the students of Jamesville-DeWitt High School. Whether it was going away to another state or simply enjoying Syracuse, several students enjoyed their spring break.
Senior Jake Rowe had a lot of fun during his spring break. “I visited Montreal, Canada. I went to the Olympic Stadium, saw a movie, and went shopping,” said Rowe. “My aunt and uncle live there and I hadn’t seen them in a while, so I was due a visit,” said Rowe. Senior Gurleen Singh’s spring break was “pretty good,” said Singh. “I went to New York City and Chicago,” said Singh. “I went to a wedding in a royal Indian palace in New York City and went to the Hall of Science. I also got to visit my brother and see some relatives, which was nice,” said Singh. “I went to Mexico,” said senior Michele Burgwin. “I layed on the beach, read a book, and swam with Dolphins,” said Burgwin. “Overall it was okay, I went with my family,” said Burgwin.
Senior Garrett Farchione’s spring break break was “fantastic.” “Me and my family and some relatives went to Florida to soak up some rays,” said Farchione. He enjoyed it very much. “I personally soaked up the rays like a sponge,” said Farchione jokingly. “We went to Florida because my grandfather has a condo there,” said Farchione. He’s not the only one that went to Florida, several other J-DHS students did too.
“My spring break was Fantasical. I went to Florida and went to Disneyworld and Universal Studios,” said senior Noel Williams. “I went with Jimmy Quartiers’ family. He goes every year and they invited me, so I thought why not,” said Williams. Sophomore Marisa Antonacci also went to Florida. “My family and I used to live in Florida for five years so we love going back. I saw a lot of my old friends so I had a very good spring break,” said Antonacci. “I went to the mall, saw old friends, spent time with my family, and went to Magic Kingdom, and it was all great because the weather was warm,” said Antonacci. Another J-DHS student that went to Florida was junior Mackensie Mulvhill. “I went with my family and I got to visit my sister that I hadn’t seen in two years, which was fun,” said Mulvhill. “Florida was warm and wonderful, I got to swim with Dolphins for a day and I got to tan. I actually only went because my dad made me, but really I wanted to go,” said Mulvhill.
Freshman Joe Morgan’s spring break was really good. “I went to Europe and had a lot of fun. I visited my sister and we went to Vienna, Buddapest, Austria, and Hungary and we went sight-seeing,” said Morgan. “I actually just went to see my sister because I hadn’t seen her for a year,” said Morgan. “My spring break was great. I went to Washington, D.C. with the girls Lacrosse team,” said senior Tara Neugabauer. “We played a few games there. We toured in D.C., walked around in Baltimore, and went to Georgetown. The best part was that the weather was gorgeous,” said Neugabauer.
Senior John Chamberlain’s spring break was rather enjoyable. “I spent the greater majority of it in Saratoga at my cousin’s house. We hung out and had fun,” said Chamberlain. “His family came into town for Easter and then we went back with them to their house, so we had a lot of family time,” said Chamberlain. “My spring break was busy, tiring, but rewarding,” said senior Doug Elmore. “We had 30 people at my house for Easter consisting of family and family friends, but I did get to work with little kids and show them how to play basketball. So I spent the majority of my spring break working at basketball camp and at the end of the week I went to Vermont and attended Accepted Students Day where I’ll be going to college,” said Elmore.
